Our Story
The story of Café 8:32 began in 2018 with a dream shared by the members of Light of Truth Mennonite Church—a desire to serve the village of Wilmot in a meaningful and lasting way.
We imagined a welcoming space where neighbors could connect, friendships could grow, and our community could experience genuine warmth and comfort. To explore the idea, a meeting was scheduled and anyone interested in helping start a coffee shop ministry was invited to come. When the evening arrived, more than 30 people from 17 households gathered together. As ideas were shared, the dream quickly became a shared vision—full of excitement, hope, and anticipation.
From that meeting, several teams formed to begin the work: developing a menu, researching potential buildings, designing a logo and drafting a ministry plan. After visiting multiple properties, it became clear that the building we chose would shape the scale, budget, and long-term health of the café. Understanding the importance of this decision, several brothers from the church formed an LLC and purchased the building we now call home—formerly Bee Bops Restaurant.
With a location secured, the teams could finally begin imagining the details. Countless hours were spent praying, cleaning, remodeling, and preparing the space that would become Café 8:32.
We opened our doors in December 2019 as a nonprofit café nestled along Main Street in Wilmot, Ohio. Since then, we’ve had the privilege of meeting and serving many incredible people from across the county. The dream has become a reality—this space has become a haven for many who walk through our doors.
Today, we continue to serve handcrafted coffee drinks, fresh baked goods, paninis, wraps, salads, and ice cream—all in an atmosphere filled with warmth and comfort.
Our mission remains unchanged:
to provide a place where friendships are built, relationships are strengthened, and hearts find refreshment. We are honored to be part of this small village and grateful for the privilege to serve. We look forward to getting to know you.
